In approximately 16 to 17 years, most of the population will reside close to public transportation in multiple forms.

Implementing this plan will result in a 105% augmentation of green spaces, fostering abundant natural surroundings. Dubai’s landscape will feature five urban hubs, culminating in a “20-minute city,” where residents can easily access destinations within this timeframe, whether by walking or cycling. Furthermore, the extension of public beaches by more than 400% will give people more recreational opportunities. 

Natural Reserves to Encompass 60% of Dubai

While Dubai has been synonymous with its impressive skyscrapers and the iconic Burj Khalifa, imagining lush natural reserves Downtown is a hard task. However, the new master plan harbours novel ideas for urban rejuvenation. 

Greenery expansion isn’t confined to the city centre; it will extend and encompass 60% of the city’s area, which includes the rural natural zones. A network of green corridors will interconnect service, residential, and work areas, fostering a harmonious ecosystem.

Air Taxis Gracing the Future Saih Al Salam Scenic Route

Saih Al Salam Scenic Route, also known as Route 1, is poised to undergo a remarkable transformation under the 2023 Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Dubai’s aspiration to expand into rural landscapes while preserving their essence is captivating. However, Saih Al Salam Scenic Route, spanning the Dubai-Al Ain Road, introduces an entirely fresh concept. Designed for interactive tourist attractions aligned with the city’s culture, this area will witness the presence of flying taxis and a host of attractions like hot air balloons, kayaking, horseback rides, glass-domed lodges, and even an open-air cinema. The surrounding communities will hence undoubtedly experience substantial growth.

Cable Cars and Waterfalls: Hatta’s Mountain Enclave

Hatta, renowned for its safaris and leisure activities, is undergoing a metamorphosis. The mountain enclave is poised to become a year-round tourist haven. Plans include the creation of Hatta Waterfalls, a breathtaking destination featuring interconnected oases linked by a bridge spanning a water canal.

Simultaneously, a 5.4-kilometer-long cable car system will transport visitors to Umm Al Nesoor, Dubai’s highest natural summit. The cable car route will traverse the Hatta Dam, mountains, and upper dam lakes.

Revitalised Countryside and Mesmerizing Seascapes

The Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Master Plan is set to transform the areas surrounding Dubai into scenic hotspots. Covering an expansive 2,216 sq. km., regions like Al Aweer, Al Lisaili, Al Faqaa, Lehbab, Margham, and Al Marmoom are poised to become prime tourist attractions. What’s more, these neighbourhoods will preserve their natural and archaeological sites, providing visitors with a blend of historical charm and tranquil countryside vistas.

And that’s not all. Dubai’s beaches, already renowned for their warm sands and azure waters, are set to expand significantly. By 2040, the city’s 21km coastline will expand nearly fivefold, stretching over 105km. These stunning beaches will feature thriving mangroves, walking and cycling paths, water sports facilities, promenades, and relaxation spots.

The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan is Already in Motion
